Lake Wawasee

Zephan Michaels

Lake Wawasee is the largest natural lake in Indiana (that is, contained in Indiana), so it has many bays, marinas, and trails to explore. In March, much of the landscape is still brown and harsh, which challenged me to create compositions with minimal color.

I’m sure I could’ve done something more with this scultpure, but alas I did not want to hold up my hiking companion with my contemplation.

I’m also a huge sucker for the Brenizer method—I’ll write a whole blog post about it at some point—which uses panoramic stiching to create a wide angle, shallow depth of field image from many shots. I admit these are not the most creative applications of the method, though.
